On Faith

I believe that people lose faith during hard times. I hope that people can maintain faith not only during good times but also during bad times. Riding my bicycle has brought me problems at times and I could have decided to stop riding but faith kept me going. I believe that with everything, there is light and darkness. When I had problems because of my cycling, I would ask God, "Why me? Why so much darkness?" Afterwards, I understood that God was helping me to believe. God guides me in everything. In times of darkness and in times of light. It is God who understands me from the time I was born and will understand me until the time I die.

On Cycling

Cycling gave me an aim to visit the U.S. and cycling here has given me a new purpose when I return to Kenya. In the U.S. I feel free while to ride my bike almost everywhere. In Kenya people who ride bicycles do not have freedom to ride safely in many places. I am thinking of cycling in Kenya and what I must do to help Kenya become a safer place for cyclists.

On Challenges

As I achieve my goals, I want to present a model to other physically challenged persons. Because of my physical challenge, I believe that people with disabilities can relate to me and appreciate my message. For the able bodied, I want them to see that if I can overcome my obstacles, they can overcome theirs. I also would like to show everyone that there is a process in achieving your goals. You cannot expect instant success. There is always a beginning and it is usually the most difficult! I want to appeal to able bodied people and to organizations to give physically challenged people a chance to prove ourselves. Do not shun us or avoid giving us jobs. All we need is a chance.
