Eric Brewer

Eric met Ibrahim during his first trip to Africa in March of 2006. Ibrahim led Eric on a two day 200 mile bicycle tour from Nairobi, Kenya to Arusha, Tanzania. Eric will never forget that memorable trip and made a pact with Ibrahim before he left to return to the U.S. He told Ibrahim that one day they would ride together in the States! Eric also promised to help increase Ibrahim's exposure abroad and help Ibrahim spread his message of faith. Eric has been hosting Ibrahim in his home and representing Ibrahim in the U.S. He is also the site's webmaster.

Tony Simons

Tony met Ibrahim at the 10 to 4 mountain bike race in Mt. Kenya. Tony has been an avid cyclist for years and understood Ibrahim's amazing talent. In that race, Ibrahim placed within the top 10 out of over 100 competitors. Tony helped Ibrahim secure a job as a seed specialist with the International World Agroforestry Center. Tony was instrumental in helping to raise funds to send Ibrahim to the U.S. and in securing Ibrahim a Visa from the U.S. Embassy on short notice. Tony volunteered to help Ibrahim get to the U.S. despite the odds.

Greg Plummer and Susan Middendorf

When Greg and Susan heard about Ibrahim and his goal, they did whatever they could to help out. They provided Ibrahim and his friend Eric with a great place to stay during their visit to San Diego which was literally a home away from home. They helped Eric secure Ibrahim a loaner race bike and helped get him an entry into the San Diego Challenge Triathlon. They have a simple credo."Nothing is impossible!"

Laura Brown

In early November, Laura received a call from a stranger on the East Coast. He told her a brief summary of Ibrahim's trip to the states and asked her if she would like to become involved with the video documentation. Laura was immediately interested in helping out. Laura captured Ibrahim's race footage in the San Diego Challenge Triathlon and loaned a total stranger (Eric) an expensive video camera so he could document Ibrahim's journey!

David Dillon

David volunteered to help Ibrahim navigate the Challenge Triathlon bike course. It was his second year volunteering as a course guide. Since the course was not closed to car traffic, volunteers like David play a crucial role in helping contestants compete safely on unfamiliar roads. When David volunteered to help guide Ibrahim, little did he know, he would experience the ride of his life! His story is a must read!

Jeff Smith

Jeff met Ibrahim and Eric on the campgrounds where they were staying. It's common for temporary campground residents to strike up a conversation and share road stories. After hearing about Ibrahim's journey, Jeff made a donation right on the spot! Later, when he found that Ibrahim and Eric could use some help getting around town while they weren't on their bikes, he volunteered as a driver and became a good friend! Before retiring, Jeff was a professional driver for Southern Californian elites!

Joe and Big Ring Cycles

Joe opened up a small bike shop in La Mesa just a few months before Eric strolled in with a wild story about a Kenyan cyclist and a favor to ask. Eric told Joe that he needed a loaner race bike for a good friend. Bike shops aren't in the habit of simply loaning out race bikes! Keeping a bike shop in business is no easy task. However, Joe understood that it was for no ordinary competitor and loaned his personal bike to Ibrahim for an entire month!

California Bicycles

Kevin Millard, owner of California bicycles in La Jolla did a double take and scratched his head when Ibrahim rode into his shop! When told about Ibrahim's ability and dedication as a competitive cyclist, Kevin was moved. He supplied Ibrahim and Eric with climbing gears needed to ride the demanding Julien mountain course and treated them both to lunch!

The owners of Crossfit San Diego heard about Ibrahim's journey in an e-mail from their friend Nik Hawks. They were deeply touched by Ibrahim's story and became inspired to help out. With an exciting fundraising workout, Crossfit San Diego helped to raise money to fly Ibrahim to Washington to receive his prosthetic leg!

Nik Hawks

Nik heard Ibrahim's story through Greg Plummer. Nik an ex-Navy Seal, has met some tough characters in his life but he he knew he had to meet Ibrahim. Nik provided Ibrahim with the racing pedal and shoe for the Challenge Triathlon. Nik also helped Ibrahim think about how he could best continue helping the physically challenged when he returns to Kenya. One of Nik's specialty is helping retired soldiers maximize their various talents after service to their country!

Elliot is an orthopedic specialist at a family practice located in Fairfax, Virginia and Bethesda Maryland. Elliot is no stranger to physically challenged athletes. He makes his living by building state of the art limbs for them.
